Aigo Tablets: Are They Worth The Trouble?
Aigo, the Chinese brand, decided to attack the market of ultra-cheap tablets with the future launch of their two newest models: the M718 HD and the M803. Both models have a good ratio between specs and price tags. First is the Aigo M718 HD. This is the cheapest of the to models, at a price of only $149. For this amount of money, you get a tablet that runs on the older version Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, with some acceptable specs: a Samsung S5PV210 ARM Cortex-A8 1GMHz processor, GC800 support OpenVG1.1&OpenGL ES 2.0, DDR2 512MB RAM memory.
Aigo Ice Cream Sandwich Tablets for Less than 200$
The bad news are that it has a 7” 16:10 LED-backlight XGA 1024*600 and an internal memory of only 8GB. Other features such as a capacitive multi-touch screen, a Wi-Fi support of 802.11B/G, DC-IN/MicroUSB/HDMI/Audio/Tfcard, Built-in G-sensor module and the possibility of external storage via micro SD card are also included. If that may not be a good day-to-day use tablet, for an extra of $50 you can get the Aigo M803.

The first upgrade that is visible is the 8” TFTLCD screen with 1280*768 resolution. Underneath it has a unspecified ARM Cortex A9 processor that runs on the latest Android 4.0 ICS OS. This device will be equipped with a 5MP snapper and 8GB of internal memory. The features on this tablet are mainly the same as on the M718 HD, with the adding of a 0.3MP front-facing camera and a build-in microphone. Unfortunately, other specs for this device haven’t been released yet, but for my part, the extra $50 are a good investment anyway it will be.
Even if Aigo has good expectations for their new devices, it will be a hard market for them, because they are in the same price range with the Ainol NOVO 7, which is another Chinese branded Android 4.0 ICS tablet, with a screen said to be between 7” and 9”, but on a even lower price-tag of only $99. However, there are reliable, cheap tablets that you could get for less than $300. This being said, it remains only to wait the Aigo tablets official launch and see if they manage to conquer the market of ultra-cheap tablets.
